My first experiment with Sodium involved the school fish pond, very
effective.
Latterly, working in a facility with several hundred tons of liquid
sodium in daily use we progressed to wrapping small lumps in bread and
throwing it out to Gulls at the cliff edge. They snatched it, flew off,
swallow it and seconds later it hit the hydrochloric acid in the
stomach.
Obviously this was before I turned vegetarian, became an animal rights
advocate and lit lots of candles.

We used to run through the school playground when it rained enough to form
puddles, scattering sodium filched from the chemistry lab.

At the time such equipment required 2 men to lift it.
