There's only a problem if he barks all the damn time. I, for one, would
be quite distressed by a dog in camp that barks all the damn time.

Oh, and he has to get along with Sandy (The Harrell's dog) because she
is the Canine Queen of The Fest.

Baumgartner is a great place for a dog.

yeah, people normally bring a dog or 2. i usually park a little bit
away because i normally travel with cats, but i think i'm leaving
squeak and ashley home this time. the trailer has to spend half a day
getting some warranty work done on the water system in jerome, and i
don't really have a safe cool place to put them, so i'll just have a
neighbor feed them while i'm gone.

I'm not bringing Hershel & Elki to the 'fest - they will be attending
the post-fest riding up north however.

Kinda the way I am about women who brag about how good they
can ride :) :) ;)

No sweat, Tami rides much better than she lets on, mostly. She crashes
better, too, but that's just because she does everything with a high
level of enthusiasm.

Sandy's a bitch, but Theresa loves Beagles and will not let Sandy pick
on one. Sandy gets along pretty well with most dogs after an initial
tense period of introduction.

Sandy agrees.

That's good to know. I'd hate for Sandy to have to show Jake a wheel,
too.

Cut it out, Tim. You're eroding my advantage. You know, old short
broken-up woman on a weird playbike...no one expects much out of me.

Hey, if it's worth doing at all, it's worth doing well.
I'd be World Champion by now if I could replace half that enthusiasm
with talent.

Balance is so important in life.

> How many days to go?

We'll be there in a week, pulling in Thursday evening or late Friday
morning. You guys showing up Saturday? You should push hard and get there
late Friday night; there should be lots of great mudholes to get stuck in
while driving across the flats in the dark.
We seem to be bringing a lot of freaking motorcycles, and I don't even get
to bring my KTM as a backup bike. I'm hoping that the proximity of Baxter's
spare 300 will prevent any mechanical failures in my bike, too.

Gee, that sounds like a *lot* of fun, but no can do.
I think we're going to take that route Keith was talking about-out to
Elko and then north on some tiny little highway (252 to 51? Something
like that...) and up into Mt Home. It might take longer...or not...but
it's something new, it looks pretty, *and* we get to eat at King's
Buffet-the highlight of a trip to Elko.

I've found that aving a good spare close by tends to keep your bike in
pretty good running order.

Ok, let's see...5 bikes...4 people...that's not a bad ratio. Eric and I
are bringing 4 bikes (2 GG's and 2 WR's) for 2 people. Not to mention
one of em's getting strapped to the front of the van...

Given that I don't have a third passenger yet, I'll be tossing in the
HellSickle as a semi-functional spare. It's a great pit bike, if nothing
else. Also good for blasting into town for parts or beer. It might
even be fun to ride up Iron Mountain.

It's actually called "Mountain City Highway" and goes to Mountain
Home... You start over a couple ridges and then run down through a
horse-ranch valley, and then past a reservoir and down a canyon and
some more horse-ranch valleys - it's kinda green there for a while.
The you hit the border and it widens out to pasturelands and you start
heading across broader ridges and past volcanic crusty bluffs through
some pretty arid scrub.

Check it out on the google map starting with "Elko, NV" and use the
hybrid mode.
Once you hit the crop-circles it merges with 78 for a bit and you know
you're getting close to Mountain Home.

I guess it's the Sun Valley Hwy (20) that takes you to Baum?

Tim,

I tried to come up with a tactful or humorous way to say this, but
came up empty, please don't hate me for being blunt, you know I love
you guys and I'm afraid of Teresa kicking my ass...

My trailer is up there, in a great spot, but I had to sacrifice a
measure of afternoon shade and "coolness" for a riverfront lot.

It's going to be hot, if you plan to run your generator(s) for
extended perioids of time, please don't set up camp right next to me.

Even though you have relatively quiet generators, it still bugs me to
no end to have a droning motor dominating the background sounds in
camp for hours on end. It's summer, it's hot, it's camping. The river
offers a superb method to cool off if needed... <G>
