I am not saying that it does. But come on, the guy doing a 130 on that
narrow heavily travel road is a complete and utter moron. He is an accident
waiting to happen. His closing rate on the trucker was well above anything a
reaonable person would expect. He was damn lucky the trucker realized that
some insane driver was closing at such a high rate and aborted the lane
change. Clearly the trucker did check his mirror, or there could have been
an accident.

Defensive driving would also include NOT doing stupid things that
require someone else to cover the offender's butt.
When you check a mirror, you frequently glance back to see what's "in
range". If a vehicle is back a ways, you may not anticipate that it's
doing 130. (I don't know where that figure came from, nor whether
it's mph, kph, furlongs per fortnight or cheerios per bowl.)
So, what's a "Gumball 3000"? Is this an official race (not likely on
normal streets with normal traffic) or some renegade, unofficial race?
Judging by all the radar detectors, etc on the dash, it seems like the
latter. In which case, jail 'em all.

Speeding..? Looks very much like Germany, so it's possible that happened
on a speed limitless stretch. Besides, 130 mph isn't that fast. Drove
faster a week ago in my own BMW in the rain/sleet.

Traffic at 50 mph wouldn't be that far above normal--I would expect a
quick glance to be sufficient.
If the traffic is 130 mph, well, the glance might not cut it because
the traffic is so far away. A glance would reveal a car a few blocks
away, not something that was about to get you creamed.
I've seen those slothy right turns you describe. I don't like them
either. Go if you must, but get going, 'cuz I'm on my way.
Generally, though, they shouldn't go. ROR is allowed only if it's
clear. If the normal speed traffic has to brake, the turner blew it.

No. Just old and tired.

Sounds like fun, if they follow the regular rules. Judging by the
video, that's not a requirement.

There's too many.
