Ad absurdum per asper
Here's a good one from just yesterday evening: Major city street in
an area of short blocks with traffic signals at each intersection.
Two through lanes and a curb lane each way with left-turn lanes here
and there.

In the curb lane on my side are (counting backward from the
intersection) an empty and inert city bus and two marked police cars,
w/ the light bars going. The rear cop car has its trunk lid up.
Their occupants are standing on the sidewalk, talking with the bus
driver.

As I waited for my bus, people coming straight or making left turns
repeatedly selected the right lane and got to within maybe a car
length of the rearmost squad car before realizing that the conga line
of unoccupied and powered-down vehicles just ahead was not going
anywhere.

Cue the usual individual choices among stealth, aggression,
submissive pleading, and passive-aggressive progressive insertion of
your left front corner into the moving lane until someone lets you
in, as means of getting around it.

(One of them was the tank truck that pumps out the restaurant grease
traps. We were all hoping somebody would let him in -- soon!)

Not sure how many were true MFFYs and how many just aren't in the
habit of looking much further down the road than their own hood
ornament...
