Once again I (and about a dozen others) came upon a MFFY coming down
from Big Bear. 27 on a 40-55 mph road. Skipped numerous pullouts. I
flashed my lights. I tapped my horn 5 times GENTLY. I tapped it 5
times a little louder. I finally gave 3 big blasts and the jerk pulled
over at the next pullout.

What is WRONG with these people?

They don't pay attention.

What?

Rhetorical?

Sorry.

I KNOW what's wrong with those people -- they're crazy!

I did it once. I got down to Snow Valley, turned around and went home
via Victorville. Way out of the way, but at least I got home the same
day I started.

Or LA to Vegas on Friday night, or Vegas to LA on Sunday night.

I don't even want to try recalling my nightmare trip down the mountain
from Big Bear, over a month ago. Worst traffic jam I've ever sat in,
and one that I posted about on misc.transport.road :-X

I don't care how much snow there is or whether or not the temperature is
just right, I will NEVER go to BB on a weekend or holiday. The crowds
on the slopes are annoying even during the week, but are intolerable on
weekends even if there were no traffic problem.

Deadest ski day I ever experienced was Mountain High on a wind advisory
day. Lots of wind on I-15, but nothing at all in Wrightwood and there
was almost nobody there. Thank heaven for wusses. Still, I wouldn't go
there except at bargain rates and even then I'd have second thoughts.
