She ran a stop sign and has rightly been charged with 4 counts of vehicular
homicide. In 1963 Laura (the rammer) Bush ran a stop sign and killed her ex

MINNEAPOLIS - The driver of a van that hit a school bus in a crash that
killed four children was charged Friday with four counts of criminal
vehicular homicide and two lesser charges, authorities said.
The woman, identified as Alianiss Nunez Morales, 23, of Minnesota, failed
to stop at a stop sign Tuesday before hitting the bus, which was carrying
28 students from Lakeview School, a prosecutor said. The accident happened
near the small town of Cottonwood in southwestern Minnesota.
Morales was also charged with a stop sign violation and for driving without
a valid license, Lyon County Attorney Richard Maes said.

No, there's a crucial difference: Laura Welch had a driver's license.
So Welch was driving legally and made a mistake that was, in itself, not
criminal.
Morales didn't have a license, so her being behind the wheel was a criminal
act to begin with. As a consequence of that crime, four people died.
Legally, that's all the difference in the world. Here's a parallel:
Let's say two sisters, Pammy and Tammy, both have cars on which the brakes
are about to fail. Pammy works a long day, is heading home from work, her
brakes fail, and she plows in to a schoolbus, which bursts in to flames,
killing 25 kids.
Tammy spends the day in a bar, getting hammered. She stumbles to her car,
and while driving with a blood alcohol level that should bring down a
buffalo, she runs over an 80 year old woman who has terminal cancer, only
days to live, and is jaywalking across the middle of the freeway.
Pammy is not charged with anything, it's not her fault.
Tammy is charged with vehicular manslaughter, because if she was committing
a crime already (drunk driving) then she never would have been on that
freeway and have hit the old woman.
Pammy promised to visit Tammy in jail, but only goes once or twice and
seldom even writes.
Just added that to give it an ending. ;)

Running a stop sign: Infraction. Illegal, but not a crime - neither a
misdemeanor nor a felony.
Driving without a license: Misdemeanor. Is a crime.
Welch: No crime
Morales: Small (misdemeanor) crime that resulted in deaths, which is a
specific felony crime (vehicular manslaughter).
Everybody else grasps the difference, you are too obsessed and perhaps too
obtuse to manage it.

Nope. Her brakes failed, there was no negligence on her part, unless you
could show she knew the brakes were bad. Look up the case in California
where state Senator Jacqueline Spears husband was killed in a case just like
this. Oh, and for onus points, IIRC it was an illegal immigrant with no
insurance that hit and killed him when his brakes failed.

Depends on state law. In Maryland, every traffic ticket said (may
still say) right on the back, "THIS DOCUMENT ACCUSES YOU OF A CRIME"
or similar verbiage.

No, I don't. DHS ran me though a background check just last year, per a
Presidential Homeland Security Directive covering all federal employees and
contractors. Infractions aren't criminal. REALITY.

Um, they care about full disclosure. There are things that you can have in
your background if you disclose them, but you will fail the background check
if you try to conceal them. So when I stated on the form that I had no
criminal record whatsoever, if they were crimes I would have never passed
the check.
Crimes: Misdemeanors and felonies.
Infractions: not crimes.
Something can be illegal and not be a crime. Different words, different
meanings, you fucking moron.
