Because he doesn't understand how free markets work. If there are
rich people willing to spend $100K a pop on a true electric car thus
financing commercially viable electric car production, how is that a
bad thing? Given another decade, electric technology could be made
suitable for as much as a third of the American car market.
Because of the high torque of electric motors, I expect that trucks
will suddenly adapt the technology as soon as it becomes feasible for
mass production in that market.
