Thus proving yet again that you're an idiot. A well set up Stude is a
perfectly capable vehicle. One notable difference is in the brakes
which from 1954 on were far and away better than the industry average
- 11x2" servo-action, self energizing front drums on V-8 models and
the introduction of disc brakes in 1963 (first modern-style disc
brakes on an American production car) being the notable features.
Also dual chamber master cylinders were standard well before they were
mandated by the federal government (actually, Studebaker was out of
the car business by the 1967 model year, when I believe they were
officially legislated.) Studebakers were also known for economy, and
had maintained that reputation since the introduction of the original
Studebaker Champion in 1939. They usually won several different
classes in the Mobilgas Economy Run every year. The original "Loewy
Coupe" design of 1953 and later the Avanti were some of the most
aerodynamic designs made in the pre-wind tunnel era, period. And
finally, let's not forget all of the speed records that the Granatelli
brothers set at Bonneville, back in 1962 - some of which remained for
decades. All of which you'd know, if you knew anything about cars and
weren't a raging anti-American bigot.

There's plenty of other fine American cars that were made back in the
day, although I'd grant you that it all started to go downhill in the
early 70's.

Capable of wastefully consuming fuel and sucking money out of the owners
pockets and into the car companies pockets.

Late sixties, but why quibble?
