In his defense, he may have been traveling at a normal speed, and TFA
specifically mentions that the pedestrian was wearing dark colored
clothing.
Of course, that in no way negates my position that police officers
should either be displaying lights/siren OR obeying speed limits at
all times - no matter how rediculous. If they'll ticket a citizen for
breaking a law, no matter how asinine, they should be obeying it
themselves.

I guarantee this cop will never do a day in prison for this. I doubt if
he even loses his job.

Why do you doubt he won't lose his job? Give specifics for him, his
precinct, etc., not statistics from other cities or states that have
nothing to do with it. Give FACTS not your made up stuff.

Losing his job would be justified. With America's jails so overcrowded
and violent criminals such as robbers and rapists getting out early due
to overcrowding, jailing someone for what is obviously a tragic accident
is beyond ludicrous and does nothing to benefit anyone. He should lose
his job if he is found guilty of speeding, pay a penalty, do community
service, and certainly lose his driver's license, but that's it.

Right, and I seriously doubt the jails are brimming with those who
committed vehicular homicide.
