Weirdness...
Neighbour (across the road) has been experiencing broadband trouble a
lot recently, line drops all that kind of thing. Only it all cleared up
while I was away... Trouble shooting on my return has revealed that it's
my TFT screen that's doing the damage. Odd.
So, new screen required:

Opinions?
And WTF's DVI? Is my machine going to be able to drive it? Should I get
the cable? Who shot JR?

I have no idea how your monitor could possibly be doing that, but if it
really is, I think BT should be looking at the shielding on his phone line.

How fucking pikey is that, they don't include the cable FFS! I've probably
got a spare lying around if you wanted one.
I'd recommend you get this one instead:
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/102440
£117.49, three years onsite warranty *and* cables supplied! (Although the
specs say no DVI cable, a lot of the customer reviews mention it being
supplied).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI
But don't worry if your graphics card doesn't have a DVI output, as both the
dabs and ebuyer monitors will take a standard D-SUB cable too.

More than odd - I am at a loss to understand how your TFT screen could have
any effect on his broadband connection.

It is worth looking at the policy of any vendor in relation to bad pixels.
I would be prepared to pay a bit more for a "zero bad pixels" guarantee,
Aria http://www.aria.co.uk/ offer a dead pixel check for an additional £20.
Personally I would pay this kind of premium rather than having to look at
dead pixels on my new monitor.

Digital Video Interface. If your graphics card doesn't have a dvi socket
then you can't take advantage of it. If your graphics card does have a dvi
socket then there might be a slight improvement in image quality if you use
a monitor with a dvi input and the appropriate cable.

Do you mean to say that the shielding BT has provided on his line is
inadequate for real-world interference?

What's wrong with your old one?

Digital Video Input, IIRC.

I mean that when I put a phone on my broadband line and switch the
screen on I can hear a buzzing. Oddly it doesn't seem to hurt my line
but it definitely affects his.
I'd say the screen's fucked in that it's clearly putting out excessive
RFI.

Might be the power supply throwing sproggies out everywhere. Try winding
the mains cable around a ferrite loop, see if that helps. Also, if it's an
external supply, try moving it around to see if that minimizes the
interference. Is the PSU near your phone line/socket ect ect?

I could play around with the PSU, ferrite loops and so on.
Or I could put this 17" TFT on the garage computer and buy a nice new
19" for my main machine.

Seconded. Widescreen monitors are The Future - though they also need to
be a fairly high resolution like WSXGA or WUXGA.
