browsing www.louis.de I happened upon this:

http://tinyurl.com/pvhqz

"Das BESTE von CASTROL: 4-Takt Motorrad-Motorenöl RS4T, SAE 10W-60
(teilsynthetisch) für höchste Ansprüche, API SG"

Which, IIRC, is the grade of oil you need for the Voxan. I've looked at the
UK site and the RS4 is only available from their classic car oils section
and not in a JASO MA wet clutch friendly spec.

Louis will send stuff to the UK and many R-GS riders order stuff from the
shop.

Thanks for that. The Tart just had a service 'back home' in Limoges,
where she was filled with some of the last Motul 15W-60 (Voxan) that
Point de Corde had left. They also sold me a litre of Castrol for top
up use. Given the consumption at Cadwell a few weeks ago and the
prospect of two track days in hot conditions this seemed advisable. On
checking the bottle it is SJ/CF. Patrick there reckons he has never had
any clutch problems using it in Voxans but I will follow up your lead.

BTW some professional photos of me at Charade with some very flattering
camera angles here:

"Pete Fisher - Makes WavyDavy look like a knee-down God..." :)

But seriously - I'm impressed you're still riding your bike at the mo - it
hit 44.5 in the shade here today and I've not started the bikes since
June.....

Even though the Daytona wants a service....

OK, I admit, I'm a wuss - how hard has it been for you to sort out a service
over the phone (the nearest Triumph dealer is Toulouse, 130-odd km away)? I
just worry that I'll book it in for "a random sodomisation and please take
all my money". Getting the R6 done was fine 'cos it's 19km away and I
talked to them face to face. I just have an innate fear of telephone
conversations in French....

Get the wife to arrange it.

Hill climbers don't do knee down, and no way was I going to get my race
face on so far from home and possibly cause an embarrasing prang with
another VCF member.

Only in the low thirties in the Auvergne/Limousin. Hotter in Brum as
far as I can see from the forecsts.

I usually do the arrangements with Point de Corde by email courtesy of
Google translation checked by SWMBO who is better at French than me.
In fact I am getting a bit better at discussing the finer points of
what is required or they have found face to face once I am there.
Luckily, though Patrick does not (or will not) speak English he is keen
to give a good service as he arranged the deal to buy the Voxan in the
first place. Although it was registered in 2000 and I acquired it in
November 2004 with 3 kms on the clock he persuaded the factory to pick
up the bill for the extra work he did today. Two hours of labour
fishing out the remains of the oil level gauge (dipstick) from the oil
tank. Not the first 'Gardette' era Voxan that has had the alloy stick
break off from vibration it seems (not that the vibration bothers the
rider).

E-mailing works then? I was going to e-mail but though I ought to get in
touch personally and then..... Well then I put it of for far too long so
now it'll be *after* I ride to the Uk for Brands WSB.... I just hope I can
sort out something for shortly after I return...

Probably better if, as in my case, you already know the dealer. Worth a
try though, particularly if you only need a standard scheduled
manufacturer's service.
