Without wishing to be untactful...I doubt you would really notice the
difference between them. They're both very capable.

Not untactful, I know I'm shite.
I've gone with the Michelins in the end, 'cause they're purtier... :-) Good
thing I changed the tyres, the rear wheelbearings were way past due so to
speak.
Next week: chain and sprockets and more than likely new forksprings....

Well, it's a fact that I normally use 010s, or the current version
thereof. I did have Rennsports on the gixer for a while, but I never
found a road-riding situation where they provided extra grip that I
wanted, and they weren't as good in the wet.
Mind you, I have just stuck a Rennsport on the back of the 10R. It'll
do for the rest of summer, including Mallory next week.

I am going to ask the silly question now, just what sort of extra grip
were you after, with particular respect for road riding? I don't
understand it.

Well, I guess one should turn the question round - I never found a
road-riding situation where 010s *didn't* provide enough grip. Happy
now?

Well I never lost it on a bend using them either, but I have to say
the Diablo Corsas really inspire confidence, and I'm sure I'm actually
cornering quicker on them than on the previous BT014s.
The fact that there's still a half-inch unused strip on the edge of
the front tyre, despite the rear being scrubbed right to the edge, may
have something to do with it, but I've noticed, just in the last
couple of days coming to work, that I'm definitely dragging my feet
through bends a lot more than I used to.

Not really no. I thought I was going to be in for some sort of
revelation about the differences between road and track riding and now I
am a prematurely let down and disappointed.

OK, ok - on the track, you never have enough grip. Not at the back,
anyway - you're always trying to exit the corner as hard as possible,
and always balancing the throttle against the grip of the rear tyre
(well, for big bikes, anyway - I think technique is different for
bikes with more grip than power e.g. 125s, Ducatis, etc). You don't
ride like this on the road, or if you do I don't think you're going to
live too long.

If my GS is anything to go by you just wait for the road to start
opening and nail the fucker in complete confidence that the last thing
likely to happen is the back wheel stepping out. The front wanting to
take a slightly less aggressive route is a different matter altogether
though.

No worries from this quarter squire, ask the ladies going soft is not
what we do.
Putting new air filters on and forgetting which way to move the needles,
in or out, is another matter entirely. It is walk away from the cunting
thing and let the battery recover time in this house.
