LOL.
I thought he was more teetering on the edge of do a runner/face the
music. You could almost see the little chain of logic running through
his head ... I could do a runner, but that would mean leaving the bike
behind ... the bike is registered to me ... so the cops will turn up at
my house ... they'll probably notice that I'm missing 30% of my skin
.... better stay.

They wouldn't need to trace the bike, they could just follow the trail
of blood to his 'crib'.
