Set everyone up with what they are drinking Shirley. I see the AC
repair worked wonders, it's chilly in here now.
Got the carb off ok. Couldn't budge the allen headed bolts that hold
the intake manifold on. Guess I'll have to pick up a can of
Knocker-Loose, run the engine a bit and spray it on. It has worked
good for me in the past. I guess part of the problem could be my
hands arn't nearly as good as they used to be.
I'll post a follow-up after I try the Knocker juice on it.

Some use a garbage disposal wrench.
I use a cut down allen wrench with a piece of heavy tubing as a
extension/handle and a long ball driver socketed wrench.
I replace the inner/left side bolts with standard hex head bolts for ease
of installation and future removal.

Once upon a time, I had to use repeated applications of all the
following: Liquid Wrench, tappin' the bolts with an allen socket 'n
hammer, and a torch. Took me almost 3 days to get 'em off. I was
scared to death the whole time that I was gonna snap one or both of
'em off. That's why I use anti-seize on 'em now.

That just means you need a bigger hammer. :^)

Finally got it out after beating on it heating it and swearing every
oath I could remember. Took about six hours of heat and spray. New
gaskets, fuel and vacumn hoses. After it was done I went for a ride
and it starts great when cold, idles nice warm or cold and low rpms
are much better resonse now. No more poping either.
When putting it away I noticed the bars didn't turn to the left as far
as before...DOH. Tomorrow I'll put a new throttle cable on :<{

At the time I wrote the above, I couldn't remember exactly why I
was having to take them off. You just reminded me, I
think...somethin' about a defective TDC indicator maybe? ;^)
