Newbie Intro [message #785878] Mon, 17 July 2006 04:29
BluffaloBob
Greetings,
Shirley, set up a round for the house and give me a diet soda and some of
them jalapeno poppers please.

I've been lurking in the shadows for a while, and I thought I'd better
introduce myself before someone notices me sitting in the corner and starts
throwing stuff at me. I was gonna do it sooner, but then I read that the
statistical chances of a fatal accident are much higher during the first
year, or first 10K miles. So I figured I'd pass those milestones before I
introduced myself, being that I'd hate to see y'all get all slobbery. <sfsf>

My name is Bob, and I live in Austin TX, like some other patrons of this
joint. A little over a year ago I bought my first bike, an 05 FLSTFI. Her
name is Esmeralda, and even though she's painted a foo foo color, she's the
most beautiful thing in the world to me. I've always wanted an HD, but let
other things get in the way of ownership. Last year I got meself one for a
belated 50th, and ride every chance I can. I'd tell you more, but y'all
prolly heard this RUB-ish before. Maybe someday soon I'll try to meet some
of y'all at an IRL. But until then, I've learned a lot hanging out here,
especially what kind of oil to put in her, and where the drain plug is.
Hell, I may even buy a service manual next week.

One last thing before I go. I dropped my bike in a low speed turn when the
front wheel hit some gravel a few months after I bought her. She was still
new and shiny, and I just had to have a new fender, so I bought one. The old
one is sitting in a box in the garage. It's got a gouge in the top, about
two inches long, three or so inches from the front edge. I think it could be
filled with bondo and painted, or even bobbed. If any one wants it, make a
generous donation to Eddie, and I'll ship it to you free of charge. Pictures
on request.

Better get another round before the wife finds out I got the plastic out
again.

Not really, just didn't want you to think you could get away with
anything. (SFSF)

Hell, we're getting quite a bunch of Austin netscum. I live there, but
work in Sacramento, so I'm not home much.

We'll have to see about setting up an IRL some time.

Welcome to the VB&G. Tonight's the Blues jam, so sit in if you play.
This round's on the house.

I'm a newbie here too, so my welcome may not be worth all _that_ much, but I
extend it just the same. Thanks for the Bud. This might not sound right,
but I'm actually glad that you dropped your bike soon into it. Now you
should be over it and know that it's fixable. Bikes get ridden and
sometimes they get scuffed, trophies get polished and sit on a shelf. Enjoy
your bike, thanks for the brew.

big ole bass on the bike.

Jojo,
Thanks for the welcome. The 290 cafe is just down the road from me, pretty
good greasy spoon.

BTW, did you ever order your Mustang seat? I was looking as well, and found
a brand new 75076 for about $70 cheaper (including shipping) on eBay. Might
want to do a search for the part number if you haven't ordered yet. There
are a couple of places selling them for a fairly good discount.

No affiliation, and I haven't received the seat yet, so don't know if it's a
rip off or not.

heh heh heh

Once some years ago, I was in traffic in Milwaukee, on my Sporty. A limo
(not one of those rent-a-limo kinds) was next to me. I reached over and
knocked on the window. And knocked on the window. And knocked on the
window. Eventually it opened, revealing a guy in a nice suit. I said,
"pardon me, but do you have any grey poupon?" He said, "oh, very funny"
and closed the window. That's what he got for opening it! 8-)
