Got an interesting phone call this afternoon. It seems Mr. Arnett has
got Skype running in Iraq. It was my long distancest call of the last
48.5 years.
I was at the Motorsports Park where my cell coverage sucks and lost
the call after 8 or 10 minutes, but the quality of the call from his
end was perfect even if there was a little lag. Half way around the
world, in a war zone, from a PC to a cell phone in the middle of
Nowhere, NC and the quality was better than if it had been placed
locally. Impressive.
He sounds like he's doing great. I was about to complain about the
heat where I was (~95-100 during the past week) when he said it had
hit 140 by 10 am yesterday. Not a typo. Several hours away from the
hottest part of the day and it was already 45 degrees HOTTER than what
I was ready to complain about.
E-mail Spodely and wish him well and hope that his A/C doesn't give
out...
