My XC 250, 1985 needs the clutch serviced. Nowhere is there any
indication about how much oil to replace. Nothing on the cases say how
much. Any ideas? thanks,

Some models have a weep hole/screw to give/show you the level.
If your's doesn't, then try 1200cc. That amount works well on my '82
XC250.

There is a high and low mark cast into the outside of the clutch cover.
there is no weep hole with a plug at the desired level. There is a drain
sort of at the base of the water pump which might bring it down to that
level. The marks are just kind of forward of the filler hole. they are like
half round one eighth inch lumps. I stay toward the lower mark as less
leaks out by the front sprocket that way. More than a quart less than two.
