Question for Bay Area Spodefesters [message #785476] Wed, 19 July 2006 20:09

Since we will be leaving from the Sacramento area, my son
thinks we should travel through Oregon, at least that's what
Mapquest and other sites have indicated. Anyone gone to
Idaho through Oregon????? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We take 80 through Reno. We head north at Winnemucca...what is that,
93?
We go through southeast Oregon and into Idaho through Nampa and
Caldwell.
It's a neat drive, but the speed limit in OR is a drag.

You can avoid OR by taking 80 all the way to Wells, NV and then heading
north into ID through Twin Falls, but it's a bit roundabout and a
longer drive. I like the way we go.

With Kev I've taken 80 to Winnemucca, stopped to overnight, next day
over to Elko and went north on 225 - changes name to 51 in Idaho and
on up to Mountain Home. I forget the rest.

Did the Wells route too with Wes and Rowdy.

imho, the only reasonable route is the winnemucca/mcdermitt/etc...
route that goes through a few miles of oregon. that's how i always went
from truckee. now i go through wells (since it's due north of ely).

I go the quickest way I can. That means I-80 East to Winnemucca.
Then Hwy 95 North to Idaho just south west of Nampa where you catch 55
East. Then just jump on I-84 East to Mountain Home and then head
North on Hwy 20 past Featherville and onto Spodefest central.

When are you guys heading out?
