Need a quiet PC and thought the added bonus of using a shuttle would save
space too.
So far, I have selected, but not opted to purchase
Shuttle SK21G barebone
AMD Sempron 3400+
DDR400 1Gb Ram
Radeon 9550 256Mb Graphics
120Gb Sata150 HDD
(total cost £ 328)
DVD, keyboards, mice etc already taken care of
Any suggestions of changes I should make or will this be OK ?
General use of the PC is web browsin, occasional movie editing, DVD burning,
and the odd FPS.

All looks OK but the 9550 is pretty crap. I suggest a 9800pro 128mb from
here
http://www.retekdirect.co.uk/acatalog/Video_Cards.html
for only £50 or £70 for the 256Mb version. Alternatively the 9800SE AIW at
£30 will still give better performance in FPS, may be moddable to full 9800
and will provide TV and video editing facilities.

Don't buy a new one: let someone else take the depreciation hit. You
won't notice the difference between a new one and year old one.

Good point.
The Intel Minis should be about to hit the Apple refurb store.
Probably get 25% off the new list price and the same guarantee.

I'd suggest he would, as the Intel chipped ones aren't yet a year old
IIRC.

Yeah, but they drop a few of their own you can use to patch the house up.
That's what I call being eco-friendly. Makes the tree hugging brigade look
lame.
