What's the view of the font on getting into City Airport from the West
on a Sunday afternoon?
Autoroute suggests going straight on after the end of the M4. I'm not
convinced, though.

Cheers. I think that looks pretty much like the route Autoroute
suggests.
What's parking like there? - I'd like to take the bike, but I can't as
I'm picking up a load of kit from head office on my return. So I have to
take the car.

On a Sunday arvo, just ping on down the A4, straight through to Hyde
Park Corner, down wossname, er Constitution Hill, then Birdcage walk
to Parliament Square. From there hang a left onto Embankment, then
just keep going.
Take the Lower Lea crossing, after Canary Wharf, down through
Silvertown, and you can't miss it.
Don't keep on the A13, or it's a nghtmare getting round Beckton
shopping village.
Watch out for cameras.
Embankment - just after exiting the tunnel at Blackfriars. Then
there's a 20mph average speed section - about 250 metres. Three
cameras in the Limehouse Link.
Alternatively, turn right at Earls Court, and follow the road down to
Chelsea embankment. Keep the river on your right and you can't go
wrong.

I'd seen that - and yes, it's bloody expensive.
I'd looked into the long-term parking, but I'm not out for long enough
to get a booking from BCP.

GPS doesn't take traffic conditions into account.
Neither does a map.
You can't beat local knowledge for stuff like this.

How long have you lived in London? The roads around Buck Palace are
always closed on a Sunday so Constitution Hill and Birdcage walk are
completely out. You can have the delight of Piccadilly, Piccadilly
Circus, Haymarket and Trafalgar Square instead. Not recommended.

Which is what I would do - you will of course have to go round
Parliament Square and head towards Westminster Bridge (almost past Big
Ben) and then hang a left on to the Embankment.

Ah. It was okay when I rode back that way from Ealing the other
weekend. Trouble is, it was a Saturday.
Earl's Ct it is, then. Easiest, too probably.

M4, M25, M11, A406 straight to Silvertown. It's an hour from J8/9 of the
M4, if that.

Cheers, there could be some merit in doing it that way. Saves all the
pissing about in central London.

Maybe not this Sunday. I just drove back from the Globe, and there's
something on this weekend. And the Embankment was pants at 11 pm, 'cos of
the Kingsway Tunnel being shut for a poxy wine bar.

Except for the god-awful roadworks at the A10 on the M25. Truly bad. And
average speed cameras.
I'd do M4, M25 to M40, A406 adn then Silvertown. You've got options to
divert if you do that. Or M4, Hayes by pass, A40, A406. Or the back roads.
:)

There isn't a Ken tax on Sunday, is there? - or at 10.30pm Tuesday when

It is. You'll get some sticky bits, but with a decent London map you can

Be careful - the A406 tends to be nicely clogged up on a Sunday
afternoon. Not as bad as during the week but still...
Basically, from your end of the world you're trying to use the wrong
airport. Only time I use/used the City airport was directly after work
and travelling there by public transport (which is fairly reasonable).
Getting there any other way Electroluxes.

No choice, unfortunately. There's only 2 places I can to to Bremen from
on the days I need to - London City and Luton.
Luton is via Easyjet, but our corporate bookings won't book them, they
will only book BA, Lufthansa or OLT. So, that leaves me flying from
London City.

That'd be my choice too.
Used to do the route a lot when I was doing work at that shithole
Charringtons brewery.
Top tip, *never* go into Silvertown.

I was thinking of his return journey, where he'd stated he was going in the
office to pick up stuff. He's now said that will be at 10:30 pm, so that's
ok.
Do keep up at the back there! :)
