| Beware Petrol Stations Surrey area - Green Diesel Pumps [message #780012] |

Picked up on a conversation yesterday where a biker was having to
have diesel removed from his tank becasue he filled it in error due to the
petrol stations diesel pumps being GREEN in colour (not Black)
apparently 3 bikes had fallen foul of this error in the same week.
Unfortulatly I missed the location but its somewhere in Surrey
so beware out there boys n girls.

I managed to do the same when BP starting using light blue tags on
their unleaded (some garages use light blue for diesel). Cost about
=A380 to drain off plus cost of refilling. BP refunded the drain off
costs after a few snotty letters - the garage where it happened told me
that it had occurred quite a few times since the colour change.

Whilst I can sympathise a little, surely the big-fucking-type word "DIESEL"
on the pump side, nozzle and display would normally give the game away?
Plus the smell, once the pump starts working, if you're a bit too thick to
read the words in front of you.

And if you do screw the pooch, it is a piece of piss to pop the fuel
hose off and let the tankful go on the forecourt, open the drain
screws on the float bowls and refill with proper petrol. Then ride
off, natch.

I think the record at work is around £80 worth of unleaded in to a diesel.
It happens way to often. The YTC award at work went to the head of driver
training for filling a brand new rapid response vehicle with unleaded
instead of diesel.

I put about 40 litres of unleaded into my company van then drove it 40
miles before it started to run a bit rough. The lease company were not
happy.
