| Bike vibration [message #779759] |

Hi all
Recently started getting a vibration/ judder on my bike when doing approx
3000 to 5000 rpm in all gears. was told it could be water in carb, which I
drained or dirty spark plug, which I checked but it was clean. It's most
noticeable in 4th & 5th between above revs- rides fine above 45mph in 5th.
Bike is a Geely JL-125, it's done about 900 miles. Any ideas/ advice would
be grateful- apart from 'scrap it' or 'buy a british bike' the normal crap
comments about cheap imports etc
Finally big thanks to the guys I've got to know at Abergavenny who gave
advice about draing carb etc.
Thanks.
Jon.

I see your problem there!
You are only supposed to do 3000 to 5000 rpm in one gear at a time!
Never mind, being Welsh, I'm sure we'll all make due allowances.

Cheers Mate- interesting reading. despite my problem, I've been alot luckier
than guy in review. this is only problem i've had & be only started a wk
ago. I didn't deal with Europa, altho guy I brought it from did. According
to Geely max speed is 50mph but mine cruises smoothly at that & has no
problem doing 60mph at about 7500revs.
Yea live in Cwmbran, usually go to abergavenny 3 times a week, usually on a
sunday, can't miss me- I got a little bike with a big 'L' plate on it!LOL
You a regular? excuse my ignorance but what's TIUTA.
Thanks for message.

my sig is below the double dash below. Proper newsreaders strip those bits
out when you reply. The version of Outlook Express you are using has a bug
and fails to do this. You can see an exaple above where Platy's sig is left
intact. If you upgrade Windows to a more recent version the problem will
disappear. If you have an old version of windows that you cannot upgrade
then there is a third party fix somewhere. Someone will be along with a
link shortly...
The other convention in this group is not to use text message shorthand.
Some cunts will get arsey about things like m8. Humour them and someone
might give you a fix for your bike. Get arsey yourself and you'll go off in
a huff, nobody will miss you and your bike will still be wonky.

These Chinese engines do seem to vibrate a bit more than the Honda
originals. Firstly, ensure all the engine mounting bolts are tight. I doubt
Europa would have given you a torque chart for the bike, but just go on
whatever the Haynes manual for a Honda CG <MSOHPR> says.
Next up, make certain the chain is correctly adjusted, again, refer to the
Haynes.
By 900 miles, it should have had at least two oil changes. If it hasn't, you
are a slack git. The original oil should be drained out after 50 miles and
replaced with a decent 10/40 oil. Change again at 500 then again at 1000
miles then every 1000 miles thereafter.
Ensure the valve clearances are correct and raise the carb needle two
notches if you haven't already.
Replace the suppressor cap if you have one of the nasty metal ones, and fit
an NGK plug in place of the item that comes fitted from the factory.
Don't be afraid to run the engine above 7000RPM. they do smooth out at
higher revs.
The vibration lessens as the miles add up.

Check the engine mounting bolts. Having said that, the engines in these
types of bike tend to vibrate anyway. I have a 200cc Chinese bike and it has
a noticeably increased vibration between 6000 and 7000 rpm but over or under
his range it is less of a problem. As long as everything else works OK and
the vibration doesn't get worse I wouldn't worry about it too much. There
are many bikes of many makes/models that vibrate so badly at certain revs
that the mirrors become useless. Some of the old British singles were
capable of inducing double vision at high revs.

you'll provoke a gay-bashing breeder backlash if you're not careful.

Thanks Tony,Moon Badger & everyone else for all the good advice, which I'll
certainly try. I received an email from Guy at Geely who says 'check the
engine hanger, we think the hanger gasket or bearing is broken'

are you suggesting that gays would also be keen to indulge in
gay-bashing? Perhaps you aren't familiar with the usage of the word
"breeder" as in my sentence above.

what about them?

"breeder" in this context doesn't just mean "people who have or intend
to reproduce".

As English is a constantly evolving and living language if Mr. Darsy
wants to use it in the way he wishes then it can only be correct. The
OED would probably agree with him, too.

the term is used in Swift's "A Modest Proposal" - is that good enough

Never heard of it. This'd be Jonathon Swift, of Gulliver fame, right?
Anyhoo, the usage that seemed to be intended further up the thread
(someone with, or intending to have, children) certainly seems to be
the more common one, IM(L)E.
