| Gixxer Service Report [message #779070] |

Just had the Gixxer's 4k service (5.1k actually) and report as
follows:
Tyre pressures - they were both WAY down[1]. that would explain a
lot. The annoying thing is, when the front was put on, I got them to
check the pressures.
Head races - good.
Brake pads - half worn - OK
Rear Tyre - fucked - replacement on Saturday [2]
Organic matter - one fuck off big cobweb sitting on the rocker cover -
it was so big the las had nar' seen one so big!
Air Filter - nar seen so much crap[3] come out of such a small space.
Ride home the bike felt GREAT, except for the rear hoop.
[1] 30F & 36R
[2]Rennsports :0)
[3] Lots of dust and flies, apparently.

I don't think that's particularly low. Certainly not "WAY down".
What is the recommended pressure?

How can you tell?
No seriously. I was in the parts emporium the other day and the bloke
in front of me was buying new pads for his CBR6. Looking at them there
was no more than 2mm of 'meat' in the pad. I realise that times have
changed and the days of 27 layers of wood and leather have long since
passed but the was so little there I wondered how on you ever tell when
they were worn, apart from those delicious tortured metal on metal
noises that comes free with every well used set.

Like the absolutely down to the metal ones that I removed from the
Bandit I bought from you? It required 3 replacement discs to go with the
new pads all round. All sorted for less than a ton.

I'll happily own up to any wear and tear you may have found on the front
pads but anything else is nothing to do with me. 'onest guvner.

So yours were pretty much within normal parameters then. I doubt
they'd have been making a huge difference.

I wasn't expecting an immaculate bike for what I paid, so fair's fair.
You need to keep an eye on the ones in your GS tough, they don't last
forever and discs ain't cheap.

Yes on the pads, and used discs from eBay.

I thought it made a huge difference, in terms of feel and feed back.

Tell me about it, I have to put a new one on the back before the end of
August. Fortunately though a breaker from ebay costs less than the
price of a spanking new disk.
