Lots o'things stalled unfortunately but the ECU was all built and tested
out real fine, it's a Megasquirt unit.

Can't help you there 'cept for the local crews here having problems with
turbocharging v-twins for both race or street. And these Swedish
turbo-gurus are good, 400 hp on the rear wheels on street ridden
4-cylinder bikes is more norm than exception among the top builders and
the world champ dyno shootout turbo engine has its' roots here.

Some folks go at it though, one of the Finns runs a "street" Harley into
the 8.9s in the quartermile. Pics from the sportsman pits at the last
European Championship round at the Alastaro dragstrip in Finland:
http://harleydrags.com/foto/TurboTwins The first bike is injected and
the second runs a good ol' Super D.

That's a bit more than the cost of a Megasquirt these days. I paid
like 100 USD for the parts back when and added a few hours of work to
get it all soldered up and put in a box.

Things happen fast with the MegaSquirt. Could be worth spending a few
hours at the official site at http://www.megasquirt.info For a quick'n
good'n dirty intro, click the "MegaSquirt Features"-link in the left
menu pane.

MS will do pretty much the same, percentages etc. is all up to what you
set in the parameters.

There you go, you have many hundred percent more experience with this
than I do. Very interesting, what are the details of the Rotax and
what about the vehicle it was in?
_____________

Heh, haven't posted in a while and it's interesting timing: the Ugly
Shop got a new two-wheeled entry just yesterday! Jasper, 13, is a brand
new member of the Ugly Tech crew. Nothing new and fancy, he picked out a
26 year old 50 cc Puch Nevada in of one of the local on-line ad sites,
we drove over to take a peek and it was love at first site so I couldn't
help but put up the bucks. First time on a gas powered bike but it took
all of 15 minutes and he had the hang of the 3-speed (though he drove a
stick-shift car back when he was 11).

So I guess The Ugly Shop is open again with an active and working
2-wheeler. http://harley-fucking-davidson.com/Jappe_01
I think it's a pretty cool li'l unit.

<rant on>

: ) Yes, that was actually the first item discussed even before wi
picked it up. But... The real CoolThang is that all the hardware on that
Puch is still bone stock after 25+ years and it carries no signs of
having been worked over by FukkJob'ers like me. Jasper knows well my
track record so it will stay stock a while longer and I really have to
stay on that path. We did some maintenance work today and I'm real happy
to report that there is hope for the on-line generation. Cool thing with
kids is that if you don't line things up as being difficult then they
aren't.

Kind of a factory custom though, ain't it? MoCo 'Glide type handlebars,
all stainless steel front'n rear fenders, and PLEASE note the "hub
brushes" (translation?) front and rear. Not sure about the US but those
brushes are serious cult items on any bike here. Hard to find them these
days but the Ugly Glide carries them of course and the ones on the Puch
are supposedly factory installed. Whoa...

This is seriously addictive. 50 cc bikes are a very big vintage culture
thing over here with a huge following for the vintage rollers going back
over 50 years. We picked up that Puch yesterday afternoon and since then
I've probably spent twelve hours scouring the Web for info on Puchs in
general and that Nevada specifically.

And then...

<enough already! rant off>

Whatever, I am really enjoying this purchase.

Heh...any fool can build a bike outta a catalogue. It takes a real man
to fuck up a pristine vintage bike. :)=)}

>PLEASE note the "hub brushes" (translation?) front and rear.

Hub cleaners? Damn, I useta have a set of those on my first bicycle.
Didn't know they were so special. I remember they were usually a greasy
pain in the ass. Hey, if you say they're cool, I'll go with that.

I can see how that'd be. I'm guessing it's a different story there than
North America, where a lot of bikes that small were simply ridden until
they seized from trying to keep up with traffic and then trashed.

Cool. Good on you guys. Have fun with it.

Yeah, this one: http://tinyurl.com/hb8ot It's a cute little rigid
with a 3 speed ass slapper and internal handlebar controls. Front end
looks kinda like a mini-wide glide. I love th' way th' seat is
sprung, unfortunately ya can't see that in this pic.

Most assuredly. That kind of feeling doesn't come easy these days and
it's real cool seeing the little guy around that Puch, checking out
this'n that and brushing of some dust and such.

Very cool. And Puch kept the fancooling all the way up to the 80's and
it is on the V3 50 cc motor on Jaspers moped as well.

125 eh, that'd be a cross country vehicle.

Heh, 125 was my first 'bike', I got that one because the 160 was 'Too Big'.

Jasper has been inducted into the fray;
maybe Jasper needs to get to an IRL,,, say around August 18-19-20?

aw hell... Many many thanks for the invite, another beauty that sorta
stings reading about knowing I'll miss it. My favorite part of the
country too but no go, again. Good thing is all the dragracing I get to
work with this summer. This late reply is due to another weekend of
dragracing and it's now confirmed that I'm doing the live track
commentary for the pro bike classes for at least 4 of the 5 European
Championship rounds this season. So it's not like the NHRA but we run
more pro bike classes, Pro Stock Bikes of course but the European
Championships also include nitro Harleys with PBs in the 6.3s and Top
Fuel Bikes in the 6.0s.

: ) Plus I usually get starting line area access for when I'm not in the
timing "tower" which means I can put on a real serious face and look
like I'm a hot shit offishul and get *real* close to when the top fuel
dragsters do their stuff.

> ASSHOLE#104 Len I know, I know, yer saving up for the reunion tour.<g>

Yes, and the personal economy looks to improve just a little: I actually
got a job. Yep, back into the IT industry and the cool thing being that
the CEO of the company (albeit a real small one) is a motorsports fan
and Harley-rider. His view on when it's time to start working this fall:
"Show up when you've finished all the dragracing work".

Problem is I'm a slug and a trip like that takes pl..., pla... OK, it
takes "planning" but that has worked out well before.

Off again tomorrow for a whole week of fambly tripping, no dragracing.
