Isn't every day ride to work day??

OTOH when I get up ... on rainy days ... work is finding a job and
since I and my scoot are already here I don't need to ride no where
except out for smokes.

Shit. Does that mean I have to get a job? Or can I just kind of ride around
town aimlessly?

Dispatcher: "Hello, 911, what is your emergency?"

Caller: "Someone on a motorcycle just rode by and flipped you the bird."

Dispatcher: "Do you have a description of the vehicle?"

Caller: "Just a moment, I'll circle around the block so you can get a
better look yourself. Enjoyed workin' with you."

I'd like to do the same thing, but I've been gone for 3 1/2 years
(!) and I can barely remember the way. <g>

And I'm kinda tired, so I think I'll just hold up all five fingers
and tell them to "pick one."

I've gotten a few REALLY good phone calls from my previous
employer since I retired....

#1 (about 4 months after I retired) - "Steve, I forgot how
to do the State Tax report on motor fuels, I know ya showed
me how to do it several times.....it's due Friday, could ya
stop in my office in the next day or so and show me how to
do it??" - (response) "Just flew into Hawaii this morning,
will be here until sometime next week, sorry".

#2 (last week as I was riding in Colorado through the
Rockies) - "Steve, the alarms have been going off on
Building B in Field Operations this morning and we need
smoeone on-site right away to check it out, the Police have
already been notified." - (response) "Like my wife told you
when you woke her up at 4 am this morning with the same
call, I've been retired over a year now, call someone who
cares."

Of course #2 triggered another call to my ex boss's cell
phone to express my displeasure...it went like this "Hi
Dave??. this is Steve Irving.......I'm up in Steamboat
Springs Colorado and your security company is calling me
over and over about an alarm going off in building B" - "Hi
Steve.......yeah, it's been going off for a couple
days.....I'm on vacation up in Denver.......",
"Well.....when ya get back, do ya think you can update your
emergency contacts listing with them??? They woke my wife up
this morning at 4am.....and it's her day
off......"......"Sure, have fun on your trip"....."You too".....

#3 - "Hey Steve"..."Yeah??", "You've been gone over a year
now??" ..."Yeah??", "Well, officially, you can come back to
work full time and it won't effect your
pension."....."Yeah???"......"Well, I've got a position
approved in the coming year's budget for a purchasing agent,
buying all the vehicles and equipment...and since that was
part of what you used to do, thought you'd be
interested"....."Um...."......."You wouldn't have to
supervise anyone, wouldn't have any other duties, just
buying and receiving the vehicles."......."Hate to tell ya
this, but I'd prefer to stay working at Wal-Mart three days
a week.

<sfsf>

Also liked the e-mail I got from a girl PC tech who worked
for me (after I'd run into a couple guys I knew who I'd
worked with) - "I'd appreciate it if you'd stop telling
people I gave you a hard time and that I made your last year
here miserable....(yada yada)......

This one got forwarded to the "City's" HR department with a
comment that she had caused me enough problems while I was
still working and a request that she stop trying to contact
me using the "City" network/equipment/time or I'd be forced
to take official action to stop the harassment.

Stopped by a few weeks later to have lunch with my ex boss,
she saw me walk in the front door and ducked out the back door.

Yeesh. Ya mean this is what I have to look forward to in another 113
months (but who's counting)? I think I'll change my phone number!

Was over 80 when I left for work and was 104 degrees when I crawled on
after work. Still have the lowers on like an idiot.

Sweat is a good thing. Suck it up and ride!
