I love the way Valentino Rossi shows his heart in his post race interviews. If
you've ever heard him, try to put his unique voice into this quote from
CycleNews.com:
³So this result is quite unbelievable for me and for my team because during the
practice, I was always behind and struggling with the bike, a lot of problems,²
Rossi began, ³but I need to say sorry to my M1 because yesterday was the first
time I have some doubt on the possibility of win today. But a great thank you to
my team, to Jeremy (Burgess), to everybody, all the guys, all the mechanics,
Matteo (Flamigni), all the engineers from Yamaha, because we change another time
this morning, we change another time this afternoon, we arrive step by step at
the right setting and today the M1 fly and is very good.²
Is very good.

Let's see how the M1 & Rossi does next weekend [at] Lagun Seca.
I am/was a Rossi fan till Nicky started making things interesting.
This should be an awsome race weekend. I'd love to see an
american sweep, but, I ain't holding my breath.
Anyone else from RMD going? Let's hook up for a cold one.

Eric and I will not be going, even though I had 3 free nights at the
Park Hyatt Highlands Inn in Carmel...even though that is a once in a
lifetime occurance...even though it was to be the celebration of our
14th wedding anniversary...even though I have never missed a GP race at
Laguna...even though this is the best GP season in I don't know how
long...even though this is the absolute fucking *pinnacle* of
motorcycle racing, indeed, the pinnacle of *all* motorsport
racing...even though I swore I would go if I had to walk to Monterey by
myself.
Divorce papers will be served shortly.

ummmm. You want I should stop by one night late and pick you up?
Leave Eric a note saying you'll be back in a few days and not to
wait up for you. hmm?
Lemme know. We'll be up on the hill again, same camp spot for the
last ~18 years.
Wish ya both could make it.

I finally watched it last night. I was hoping Nick could squeeze out
second, but Melandri was apparently just that much better.
Is Italy the new sports superpower? They seem to be winning at everything
of late.

He's loooked awfully good the last couple weeks for a guy
with a bum right hand

Nicky almost has to win this one to stop the Rossi momentum
from becoming inexorable. He obviously has it in him, he won
last year, but the track changes may remove some of the local
track advantage he had last year. I wish he'd have beaten the
rest in a straight up fight somewhere this year already. It'd lift
his confidence a bit. He can't afford to finish 3rd to Rossi's wins
and he can't screw up. No mechanicals or non-finishes so far
this year will be a hard record to maintain.
It sucks that there's no 250 or 125 race. The 250s have been
quite entertaining this year, as the 125's always are.
Go Nicky! Wish I could be there but AHRMA is at Mid-Ohio.
Go fast. Take chances.
