I knew a guy whose car was all smashed up by an errant car wash. When
he went into the minimart to tell them what happened the idiot said,
"Yea, the car wash is broken, sorry dude."

That happened to me once with an old Toyota mini-pickup - the side
brush guide snagged my side mirror mount and ripped the whole thing
off, trashing the door in teh process. $1500 (and those were 1990
dollars).
I was at a gas station / car wash a couple of years ago and had the
pleasure of seeing a Lexus that got crushed by the carwash a few
minutes earlier - evidently the overhead brush got stuck in the down
position - one of the mounting bars made a deep groove down the middle
of the whole car from stem to stern, crunching the hood, roof, trunk,
and breaking all of the glass in the car. Considering how deep that
groove was, and how slooooow it must've occurred, the guy inside the
car must've shit his pants.
