OK so which shite old French enduro bike shall I go for?
As I suspected my nearest off-road dealer had a wide selction of enduro
bikes to choose from.
Given my pikey price range it comes down to two (although I have to
check out another dealer first).
1) 1990 KDX200
2) 1997 WR2 250 Yamaha
2) is about three hundred and fifty quid more than 1). Both are
probably wildly overpriced but at least I can take it backj fairly
easily and play my face if complete rubbish.
The dealer claims enduro bikes in France do not need a speedo!
I am leaning towards the Kwacker as I really rate the lad's KX65, but
logically the Yam is a better bike - anyone prepared to confirm or deny
that ?
PS and the Tart needed a new foirk oil seal. Note to self - ensure
fork stanchions are clean and ties downs not too tight before taking
bike 750 miles on a trailer.

If it were the KDX 220 it's a no-brainer .. light, nimble and a couple of
ponies to spare.
As it's the 200[1], and 7 years older, I'd plump for the WR.
Actually, I'd say get them to let you test-ride them first .. leaving or
showing them a wodge of cash helps show you're properly interested. Even a
short test thrash will let you know which will suit you, and how you ride,
better than any apparent weaknesses or plusses others might find on each
bike.
[1] Which were and still are damn fine Enduro bikes, 'specially for
beginners or green-laning.

Thanks for that. Had a look in another place at a much more up to date
Gas Gas 200 and a KTM 200. Both really more than I want to pay but the
dealer was keen to sell and haggle so difference in cash to find not
massive. No way was he going to allow a road test on a '"competition
bike" (although registered) - so nuts to him.
The other place are OK about a test. The KX is also being sold for a
customer not directly by them which puts me off. I will throw a leg
over the WR250 (that will be probably enough to put me off given the
seat height) and see what i think of it.
