I'm about 2/3rds of the way through this and thought it worthy of a
mention. A story of a boy turning into man, becoming wordly wise and
presumeably a love interest somewhere along the way. His journey is set
in the early part of the 1900's and features his involvement with the
art of Tattooing.

Sarah Hall, who was surprisingly younger [and fitter] than I had
imagined, writes in a style that reminded me a little of Geoff Dyer,
who I know has some fans amongst, strong on descriptive writing, light
on dialogue.

I'd recommend.
