Oh b***er.
SV650S not so shiny anymore after low speed (15ish) off yesterday A.M.
Not really sure why I came off, slowing down gently for two cars in
front, front one turning left into wide driveway. Suddenly front grabs
and spills me out to the right. Suggestions have been gravel (washed
out after the rain) &/or diesel, but not obvious on inspection.
So, seriously scuffed upper & lower fairings & exhaust, slightly
cracked radiator, broken footbrake & mount, bar end & brake lever
scuffed/gouged & front indicator snapped.
On the plus side, my only onjury is a very slightly bruised right knee,
(thank you Mr CE knee pad armour). Clothes hardly marked, just a
slight scuff on knee of Hood jeans.
Managed to ride it home, (nervously) then to dealer in PM for
inspection.
Niv, SV650S, (not so shiny anymore).

Thank fuck for protection eh ? - Well done for looking after yourself - the
bike can be mended !
I get mightily pissed off when people criticise me for wearing proper kit
and who presumably themselves wear
tee-shirts, shorts and sandals on their ZZR1400 (cos its "cool") when its
"hot".... see "sixpence - DUSTBIN"
thread above !

I would never criticise you for wearing "proper kit", and I be
grateful if you could return the compliment and not citicise me for
what I wear.
I wear kit appropriate to the conditions, the journey, and the sort of
riding I'm going to be doing. I've been riding for a long time, and
know what it's like to crash in jeans and trainers.

Fuck off with this shit. It was a 15mph off. A grazed knee heals
quickly.

Sounds like you're the one critisising (in 2 threads).
I've been stopped by plod for not wearing any shoes on the bike.
It's all about personal choice, and risk compensation.
I wouldn't wear football boots for a kick around on the beach.
I must be some sort of cunt.

So do I. In fact not even jeans, just your run of the mill trousers.

Huh? I've never criticised anyone for wearing proper kit either (as
Champ said).
Each to his own.

You seem to be reading something different than I am. I've not seen
criticism of your choices. I have seen you criticise others for
theirs.

My last bike had a little rubber thing on the gearchange, and v-twin
torque, so minimal gearchanging wasn't too much of a problem. I haven't
tried it on the blade yet, but I'm sure the time will come.
There's nothing like feeling the wind between your toes.
Except maybe feeling the wind round your naked bollocks.

No. I suppose I could wedge the lever between the bottom of my toes

Nah ... but I thought Darsy might. ;)
not quite the same (part II), but after having my ingrowing toenails
done, upshifting was a tad painful. So I just kicked it up with my
heel for a few days.

Rearrange the following words:
Bastard off you fuck sanctimonious
If it's baking hot I'm not wearing full leathers for all sorts of
things. And as someone else said, the tip is not to crash in the first
place. When you've got a bit more experience, you'll appreciate that.
And it's down to an individual's choice anyway.
