Trade it in for a Miata, an oil change is cheaper.

You're used to bending over, so get back on yer knees where you belong
and take a gander.
Then, with a hot wrench, remove all nuts-n-bolts you can see until
fluids starts coming out.
STOP, when you find that one!
Remember to use a ZIPPO lighter for additional light.
Make sure the gas tank is kept OPEN so that it can ventilate properly.

Fuck that, just bring the bike over and I'll change the oil for free.
Anything else? How about some new tires? Sit down over there and drink some
of my beer while I get that bike all fixed up. I don't mind your barging in
here knowing nothing about motorcycles or Harleys. It's not as if we don't
know you, grouper. Your the fish that unfortunately didn't get away. You

Yeah that's sooooo funny........ you provide goods and
services to the public for free do ya????
Let's see:
Synth3 oil (if ya use that kind, I do)- 3.5 quarts - [at] $31
O-ring for drain plug - [at] $.95
Oil Filter (black one, I like black) - [at] $8.95
Total = Little over $44 including sales tax.
So.... [at] $26 for the labor to do an oil change.....and since
the tech's probably on commission......
Hmmm......tech has to go out to the lot, find the bike,
start it and warm it up (if it ain't already).....bring it
into the shop, put it on the lift, raise it to a comfy level
so he's not crawling around on the frikkin floor.....get a
drain pan, drain the oil, pull off the filter. Go to the
parts counter, present work order....get the oil and filter,
go back to work bay......install filter, put new o-ring on
drain plug...smear on a smidgen of thread sealer, pour in
three and a half quarts of oil.....start it and check for
leaks and that ya have proper oil pressure.......drain and
toss old filter, dispose of oil. Take bike either to wash
bay or back out to parking lot, return keys and paperwork to
counter.....whew.......
I can see how that might take a 1/2 hour or 45 minutes......
Not a bad price really to change the oil on the bike seeing
how someone has to provide the tools, the building, the
insurance, the lights, etc., and then someone has to dispose
of the old oil and the old nasty filter............
Where do ya get yer's done for free??????? <sfsf>

It's on the bottom. There are two similar ones. Be sure you get the
correct one out. I'll let you figger out which one that one is. You'll
know if you screwed up. When I can't remember, I just look in my owner's
manual. [BIG FREAKIN' HINT HERE]

Welllll........
I do my own, mainly cause I've got a garage fulla tools and
nothin' else better to do.
The parts cost me the same $44.
But.....took me about 1/2 an hour to drive over to the
dealer to pick them up. Got about mosta the way through the
job and realized I didn't have a frikkin filter in the box,
check the invoice...I didn't pay fer one either. Back in the
truck, another 1/2 an hour trip to the dealer to get the
filter.......good thing I don't live very far away.
Of course I did have 6 qts of oil in the box, a derby cover
gasket, coupla drain plug o-rings, a primary cover gasket,
and one a them neat new primary chain self adjusters....
Got to get a second look at the girl at the register with
the big tits, 6 rings in her ear, two in her lip, three in
her eyebrow, and a stud in her tongue......
Only did all day in the (hot) garage spending quality time
with my bike....had the fairing on and off a couple times
trying to find the best spot for the little XM radio antenna
to reside for the strongest signal......
Ran through the checklist and see that I have to go back to
the dealer....forgot the frikkin spark plugs......

Plus, if it is a decent shop at all, they will do an inspection of the
visible parts, check lights, horn, etc, check tire pressures, make sure
you're riding off on a safe bike.
If you want cheap, you don't go to a dealer, no matter what you are on.
If all you are doing is changing oil, go for it.
But if you want a professional to take a look at your bike every now and
then, $75 don't sound bad.
I just paid $285 for a 5k service. Worth it? Was to me, the big needed
it and I don't have my tools here in Sacramento to do any work myself.
They also found a bad motor mount and changed it under warranty. Would I
have found it? I didn't know it was bad.

By now you've probably realized this is not always the most helpful
place on the internet. But in all the smart ass'n the one take-away for
you is to get the shop manual. They're cheap and you'll only need one.
To save you some grief, always do a google search before asking a
question because unless your name is Len, spoon feeding info is held in
low regard.

Cripes man! First close the friggen door, and run the AC only when you are
working on the scoot! Ya don't need to run it 24/7!!
I probably run mine a total of one week a year, but it is worth every penny
of the hundred dollars it cost me to put it in!
When I got home tonight I turned on the AC as I was figuring on heading back
out to the shop, then the lazy-boy grabbed my ass! At least mamma's car is
comfy!

Guess ya don't know that I live in hell.........I'll be
working on the wife's truck tomorrow. Suppose to be 112,
will be closer to 120 in my garage......
> I probably run mine a total of one week a year, but it is worth every penny

Hundred bucks??? I'd have to relocate an electric panel, cut
a hole in a wall..all kindsa BS........little more than a
hundred bucks. Either that or just leave a door open to the
house. Then I'd have a pack of little frikkin dogs under my
feet all day........
And I like leaving the garage door open when I'm working out
there........sunlight is great to help ya see what yer
doing. That's in addition to the lighting upgrades I've made
out there since we bought the place.
Oh yeah........I'm unable to run my AC only one week out of
the year......it's been well over 100 for about 3 months
now, and will stay that was for a couple more months.

Hell the water in my pool is almost 100
degrees.......<sfsf>, I've gotta spray it in the air at
night to cool it down for the next day.

Good onya. Don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out. But if
you insist on sticking around, may we again suggest rmhfaq.com? It's
also on the world wide web of which you speak.
I'm thirsty. Shirley! Coffee over here, get fisheye whatever he's having.

What made ya think it was our JOB to help you out???? You
thought we were all just sitting here wait for you to pop in
and solve your problems???? <sfsf>
We were busy as hell trying to figure out what to do about
Beckyboo/Herman.......

Begs an answer......did ya do it yourself, or take it to a
shop???? I always kinda figured that if a guy couldn't find
the oil drain plug.....he had no business changing his own oil.

Good......now at least you'll know what questions to ask
next time.
