War is hell, as they say. Until you're faced with similar situations, I
would let others take care of what is wrong and what is right.

What's to spin? I was against our invasion of Iraq, but what you're seeing
in tragic instances like these are a few young soldiers cracking under the
constant fear and uncertainty of their daily existence. These kids are
worn out from extended tours, short turn around deployments and simply
waking up every day wondering if today is their last day alive.

Guys, let's try and follow Larry's request and save the political stuff for
other boards. I know there are terrible things going on all over, I come
here to hear about sim-racing.

That is exactly what the civilians are feeling, all brought upon them by
invaders. They had a much happier life before. No, they did not fear
Saddam's jails because most people werent criminals, and didnt speak
against the covernment (which is what a lot of you guys would like).

How about innocent until proven guilty. Lets not jump on the bandwagon to
persecute them until we know all the facts. Give them the benefit of the
doubt until proven guilty. they've earned it.

What's to talk about in the Race Sim world that hasnt been covered to death?
We can talk about the never-ending rF beta's some more I guess. How about
"which wheel" is best, or even better bash iRacing some more ;)
I agree with you to a certain extent Chad but this really is a dead time for
Race Sims and which do you prefer silence or an occasional OT political war
(which you can easily ignore). Hell Im forced to wade through posts from
the console crowd and all that arcade crap (just about as bad as liberal BS)
;)
Cant a few of us just talk about what ever we like similar to the water
cooler? This is an un-moderated NG (why I come here and not some place like
RSC) and really anyone can say pretty much say whatever they want which is a
strength not a weakness.
That said, as long as I don;t see the troll Rex/Fredrickson/Larry/Reggie
posts I won't respond and will try to stay on topic.
Edit those replies folks, or better yet just dont reply to the Rex moron at
all, OK....

No agenda issues there? Also, it took that long for an alleged
"massacre" to surface in the media? I can watch a car chase in
California live on CNN or FOX, but I can't get news of this "incident"
any sooner than 2 1/2 months after the fact, even from the opposing
side? If the Sunni group was so outraged, then wouldn't it seem more
probable to publicize the incident right away? Or did the Sunni group
need to authenticate the video first? They always seem to be erring on
the side of caution I suppose.
Even putting aside due process for minute and going right to
sentencing, we are talking about less than 50 soldiers who acted
wrongly. A fractional percentage of the US forces who are there on
orders trying to do the right thing in every case.

Good idea. I agree with this 50-soldier thing. This kind of thing happens
in war, on both sides: it's the nature of the beast. Hiding it for all this
time is worst than the actual act, is my feeling. It would be like someone
racing on rFactor. He joins a server and does a few fast laps. Someone
asks him, hey, how are you so fast? The guy replies, dunno-- it's my first
time on this track.
But the guy had been running the track since last November.
Sorry-- it's the best I can do. :)

Youre playing into the trolls hand here Tony and it's really surprising
coming from you.
No, I want you to moderate it just for you (and other OT haters). Im not
crying about OT posts am I?
You ask me to stay OnT and I gave you a suggestion that will keep my
responses OnT. If that's to difficult then be prepared for OT posts.
Pretty simple, no? ...
I'm giving a pass on this thread but will not next time. Dont come back
crying to me about OT when I do.
Sounds to me like youre wanting cake and eating it too Tony, LOL.

Mitch, I am sure you are more than capable of being responsible for your
own actions and don't need to rely on others to prevent you from

Sure I'd rather not see the OT political stuff as in my opinion it
degrades the value of the group - but heck this is usenet and we have

in a diverse group and if you choose to disagree with it so be it.

NO! There are places to discus this tripe just as there are place for me
to take a DUMP! People have asked both sides NICELY to stop. Since
neither seems to want to listen I won't be nice.
I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR POLITICAL POSITIONS.

"Tough" isnt something an individual can quantify themselves. It must to be
exhibited :)
I am a real SOB though. What, no arguments ;)

The frustration which caused the original request to dump the OT stuff
is that there are posters who get drawn into the ot threads also post
credible on topic stuff which gets lost with a simple filter. The
filters work fine for the truly inane poster!

I think I understand it perfectly, you are saying you can't restrain
yourself if someone responds to a poster you have killfiled, hence my
previous response:

Whether you want to is another matter :)

This newsgroup is completely irrelevant. It serves no purpose to the
simracing community anymore. Just let it go rotten, I say.

The threat of death or injury is a pressure that is character testing -
and there are all too many reports of extremely poor character. As is stated
in the movie Troy - "War is old men talking and young men dying". This is
worse.
The entire present U.S administration. is hopelessly lacking in
character and George W Bush is a perfect bumbling boob to front it. He looks
like a character out of a MAD magazine.

You know, normally that would be spot on - but this is a very different
world to what it was a few decades ago. I think giving others the benefit of
the doubt is a VERY bad policy nowadays. The U.S. is too often guilty of
this type of thing and seen to lie and want to sweep it under the carpet.
The U.S. is not trustworthy or worthy of any benefit of doubt. The U.S.,
courtesy of countless piss poor examples of humanity at all levels of
society, is certainly worthy of being seen as guilty until proven innocent.

Once it starts, it never ends Mitch. Time to stop it now. Move it to a

OT has never been the problem.
OT about politics, war or religion is ALWAYS a problem.
