Why is a boat on a SX track? [message #713234] Mo, 24 April 2006 00:43

Carmichael almost put his head through it but luckily took out a
photographer instead. What is next? A beer can mountain? How about a
row of lawn mowers?

You should know the answer to that...

SX is all about the $$$. If a sponsor wants it, they get it. Safety of the
riders is WAY down the list.

However, Carmichael is probably the only rider in the AMA right now who could
have a positive impact on rider safety. Would be nice, in a dream world at least.

The point is that many folks who ride MX/SX also wakeboard, so MasterCraft
boats has now become a sponsor. That's their latest and greatest tow boat
(the X-Star) you saw Ricky almost impale himself into.

IMHO, had Ricky not tried to ride over his head and achieve 'James Stewart'
nitro-speed through that whoop section, he'd have been fine. But, he just
keeps thinking he can run Stewart's pace ... IMHO, fact of the matter is,
that when Bubba is on fire and keeps it on 2 wheels he's McGrath-like and
simply untouchable.

Just my 2 cents worth and nothing more ... as for the boats, expect to
continue to see them, as MasterCraft had about 4 of them on display in the
pits in Dallas this year.

Maybe so, but we said the same thing about Carmichael before Bubba
arrived ;->

And in any case, I'd rather watch RC go all out to *race* with
Bubba as opposed to watching Chad Reed settle for third unless one (or
both) of the agressive riders crash. In fact, I can't wait 'til Nick
Wey gets a factory ride next year and starts kicking Reed's ass too.
;-p

Got that right, and Millsaps too!

Agreed on the competition btwn Bubba and Ricky. It did look like Ricky was
trying to take it to the next level and run with Bubba for the first time in
a few weeks. He and Ivan both looked strong in practice, and he seemed
determined to win in the main. It just seemed like the whoops took the bite
out of his chances for a win. But, man, the speed they were trying to carry
through that section seemed visually inhuman. IMHO, had him and Bubba kept
it on 2 wheels they would have been flat gone from the rest of the field!

Nick does look strong. I too hope he receives a well deserved factory ride
for next year.

I don't know about Milsaps ... yeah, he's fast and his technique is good,
but he didn't seem to fair too well in his first SX outing in Dallas on the
450. I think Tedesco's SX season will be a hard act to follow for anyone
coming up from the SX Lites class.
