FS 1992 Black and Tan [message #516424] Sat, 19 November 2005 01:41

Seems this is accepted to post here, if not someone please berate me a bit
;-) As I've mentioned here, I took the NB plunge (and I have a newer /
slightly different smile that I cannot wipe off my face!). I'll try to give
a bit of a run down on the car here, if anyone is interested in pictures,
let me know and I can forward you all you can handle.

- 135k, runs like a top, recently replaced (probably a month ago) all the
lifters (had a few that had 'failed' and were very noisy, changed them all)
feels like a 'freshened' motor and is in a way I guess. While I was in there
I replaced the timing belt (second go'round), the waterpump, the crank seal
and the cam seals. CAS o-ring replaced 6 mths ago or so. Valve cover
polished and reinstalled with new gasket set within the last year, no runs,
no drips no........ well, you know.

- This was the SE that year, 'C' package, I think they call it. PS, PW,
cruise (doesn't work for some reason). It has the 6-disk remote changer in
the trunk with up graded headrest speakers (Max-5) and door speakers
(Pioneer, I think). Interior is in excellent condition with the exception of
the drivers seat showing it's age. It still looks as good or better than
most 95 to 97's that I was looking at that only had about 70k on them. I
just refinished the instrument binnacle, removed that sticky black 'coating'
and actually sanded and polished the black plastic below (this came out
beautifull, I need to tell everyone about this somehow). Carpets are
perfect, mats are very good. Convertable top looks perfect from just 2 or 3
feet away but it's got probably 6 yrs on it and although the window is in
real good shape, the top wont last a whole lot longer (if stored inside, who
knows how much longer).

- Paint is very dark and very glossy. Both the nose and the butt are
looking pretty ratty (the flex-painted parts). It did recieve minor hail
damage at some point in it's life with it's PO, probably 10 dings in the
hood. It has the fabulous 14"BBS wheels (which I would love to end up with
for autocrossing) which are in decent shape but far from perfect (some curb
rash but again, from a few feet away people mistake this for a very new car
all the time, I guess cause I generally keep it looking very nice). Tires
probably have 15k left on them, they are Brigestone 'Eagers' (sounds goofy,
eh?) that I have raved about her on more than one occasion) they have a
great ride / handling compromise and great breakaway characteristics. With
there high treadwear rating I don't know why everyone doesn't use these on
the street, they are very reasonably priced also.

- Suspension is incredible, one of the first things I and best mod that I
did was install KYB AGX shocks (8 way adj) and FM swaybars, with the factory
springs. Super handling but still plenty of ground clearance. I've installed
a couple of chassis stiffening braces also.

- Redline fluids in the tranny and dif, Castrol GTX 20W50 regularly in the
engine.

I tried to find a way to switch out the seats with my 99 as they are MUCH
better seats (this is bothering me) but I have rollbar issues. The 92's are
taller (hit the rollbar sooner in there rearward travel). I'm going to miss
those seats!

I'm in the Houston area (Sugar Land, to be exact). I'm asking $4,500 and I
know that's optomistic but If someone looks at it they will see the care
it's had and the maintainence is good to go for quite some time now. So, let
me know if you're interested, I'm goint to be putting it on autotrader and
on the Houston Miata Club site so, it'll get seen quite a bit here real
soon.

Thanks,
Chris

This is NOT accepted to post here. You are *supposed* to read the charter of
the newsgroup *before* you post. If you would have done that, you would have
seen that for private owners, it is acceptable to post Miata-for-sale ads
in this group. However, the charter specifically does not state that such
ads are *accepted*.

Leon
Grumble.

Also, how can you be a private owner? You have been posting here publicly for
ages.

You think I am kidding? May your black car be forever dusty and never shine!

Where are the pics, by the way?
