********Famitsu also reveals that the first shipment of the game will
include the original Sega Rally Championship arcade game. A perfect
port of the original arcade title, players will be able to select
championship and practice modes and two cars.***********

Sega Rally, like many Sega arcade games, has never been bought home
100% faithfully. the Saturn and PC versions couldn't hold a candle to
the original Model 2 arcade game. can the Playstation2 pull off an
identical port? unlikely, but it should be close, if the recent port
of VF2 to PS2 is any indication.

WHAT?

the saturn version was fucking awesome, and for the time an incredibly
faithful recreation of the arcade game.

admittedly the PC version was crap, but the saturn version is one of THE
greatest home console racers ever!

Makes me wonder if these guys are really fans. Probably the casual
gamers. The Saturn version (with extras like time attack mode and the
hidden Lancia Stratos) still is one of the greatest racers to this day
and true fans know this already. Btw, from what I heard and read, the
port of VF2 on PS2 isn't so great.

The Stratos was awful! It didn't do what you told it to in any way! I
could get decent times on Desert with it (about 49-50" IIRC), but could
barely manage a lap on the other courses.

Amateur!

The Stratos was THE best car in it, it was a case of learning how to
drive it as its only RWD as opposed to 4WD, like the Celica and Delta.

honestly, and you claim to be into games! ;)

the Saturn version of Sega Rally was VERY good, I'm not saying that it
wasn't. It was really outstanding for the system, but in no way did it
come close to the Model 2 arcade game in terms of visuals.

It drove totally different, but once you got used to it the Stratos was
the fastest car that cut corners unbelievably well.

well no, but all you said was that it didnt do the arcade version
justice, which in my opinion it most certainly did.
