While Tim has started this thread on FXDC bars, I've been wondering what
other bars, higher or lower, can be fitted to an '05 FXDC without needing to
replace cables or hoses, etc?
Perhaps some in the collective wisdom here will know the answer without
deriding my lack of knowledge on this.

The correct part number is on the HD web-site.

Thanks ggb,
It would be really great to find bars that would do it
without changing cables or brake lines.
Hopefully, I'll get a reply. If I knw how to find the part
number on the HD site, I would've done that.

Ok I will do yor work for you this time. here is the stock bar.
http://tinyurl.com/dhact
here are the ones hd has for your bike, they will tell you if you need
new cables.
http://tinyurl.com/9upmr
and one more so you can compair the differences.
http://tinyurl.com/dfy5f
now this is just the factory options for the '05 fxdci
there are many more out there. after you decide on what bars you want
for your bike ask what for opinions on them.
by the way this took less than 5 min. to find.

Hi Karl,
Thanks for the info. I did see those numbers but was not sure
which was for the FXDCI. It appears that if they are in the order of the
models listed the 56004-00 are the stock bars but they were not listed.
I found the 56085-83 but they may be for the other model. So, I still do
not have the dimensions for the bars for the 05 super glide custom. I
took a ride to a dealer today and they were closed. BAH!
So, thanks again. But no cigar...

The discription does say "exact replacement"
The web-site database may not be uptodate. so hence the missing
560004-00. IIRC the sufix is the year it was used first, they could
still be using that bar. the difference between the two could just be
a hole for a cable ratiner. the 06 P&A catalog has a chart in it and
may have the newer part #. It is a tradition that cycle shops close on
mondays. However that is slowly changing.

Thanks Karl,
I have 3-4 Harley dealers with in 30 to 45 minutes. The
Monday closer was the 4th I went to. Rumor has it that it is also the
most expensive. But it was a nice ride so all was not lost.
FYI, the bars on my super glide are just a little low and
forward. I'm getting the Sundowner seat and that may bring me a bit
closer but maybe a bit higher. Right now the seat is most important, so
I'll wait on the bars.
BTW. I didn't realize that stock handle bars are stainless.
Are chrome bars noticably brighter/shinnier?
