Some may call it a convenient scapegoat but this vehicle embodies
everything that's wrong with American culture and "conserv"ative
rationales for waste. With their typically spotless paint and waxed
tires it's clear most civilian Hummers aren't bought for utility. They
tend to be conveyances for ego and false pride.

The few who might consistently need one for large, enclosed loads on
extreme terrain are rare. At nearly seven feet wide they can be
dangerous on narrow or brushy trails, and don't scratch that paint!

Few people would respect a town thief who kept taking more than his
share of water from the public well. Getting 11 MPG in what amounts to
a passenger car is still legal, but wasting oil is even worse than
wasting water, since water can eventually be recycled. Even if you
think you can afford $100 per tank of gas, you're on weak moral ground
defending such gluttony.

Yup! Pretty impossible to tow a 6000 lb trailer/boat with an
electric or hybrid SUV unless you chain four or five of them
together to do the pulling. Pretty difficult to drive an electric
or hybrid vehicle in 8+ inches of snow unless one waits for the
streets to be plowed with diesel snow plows. So who cares if the
off-road trails I choose when I go hunting are just a tad over 7'
wide.

We each have our reasons for driving the vehicles we drive. For
us, one reason is not letting a snowstorm abort the arrival of an
ambulance as my child stops breathing from seizures -- hence
driving directly to the hospital as the wife administers CPR in
the WIDE rear seat of our WIDE 4x4 SUV.

These sicko self-righteous MoFos can fantasize about our penises
as much as they want -- it is a free country after all. Just
leave our shiny SUVs with glossy tires alone.

Had a Jeep'er ask once "Isn't it too wide for the trails?"

is no one going to step up and admit that their jeep on 35"s gets 10
mpg or that their f-150 is getting 8? I guess i should get shot for
taking the truck offroading also, there really is no need, it's just
fun...

my theory... burn up all the oil before our kids turn 16. that way they
are stuck driving show ass electric cars...

My Discos manage between 8-13mpg, depending on terrain, not too bad

Having owned a 4.2L CJ-7 and as much as I love my Chevy trucks (98
Tahoe, 86 Sub), I'd trade them in for a turbo diesel disco if they
ever made one that can tow 7000 lbs. Great friggin' vehicles...

My old 86 Jeep CJ7 with it's 33" BFG muds and a calibrated speedometer
for accurate mileage gets a nice 23 MPG on the highway at 65 mph and
still passes emissions with really low numbers.

This guy is a jerk. However, the building management is complicit. If they
tow the offender's vehicle when it was illegally parked, he'd get the
message. If I was a building / mall manager, I'd have a tow truck on
stand-by. If you left your vehicle in a no parking zone / fire zone /
handicapped spot (if you are not handicapped), I'd have it towed to the
furtherest reaches of the lot before you got in the door of the building /
store. Heck, if your wife / hubby was sitting in the vehicle with it stopped
in a no parking area, I'd at least try to tow it.

I bet if you were the building manager and that guy had a floor or two
leased from you, you would do the same thing.. You'd smile and be glad
that you had someone paying you for the space. Its all about $$ when it
comes down to it. Im not for parking in the handi spot, but if I was
paying some building $100k a month for space and I had a shiney new
ferrari, I'd park it right in front in the no parking zone, and I'd tip
the security to keep an eye on it...

I suppose I'll never be a building manager, becasue if I was, I'd tow your
Ferrari the first time you left it in the no parking zone. However, if you
want to pay extra, I'd be more than willing to park it for you.

Ed, youre a moron, and thats why you will never make a lot of money and
have "conservative ethics".
If you were the manager and towed a car like that you would be on
unemployment the next day. Your comment shows that you are too short
sighted to even grasp that for your minute of "satisfaction" in towing
the car, you would lose a million dollar a year account and your job.
and Im sure your family and friends would be so proud of you too when
you came home with your severence check to tell your family... "I sure
showed that guy"

BTW, I think I figured out conservative ethics, thats what "liberals"
call it when someone else works hard for the money and cart blanche to
do what they would like.
Its funny how once a hippies income hits the 6-7 figure margin they
suddenly turn into "the rest of the world",

y'know, nevermind, I cant keep up with the liberal and conservative
titles so I'll just start referring to the liberals as "hippies" and
the conservatives as "the rest of the world"... cool?

Corey,

I will never be a building manager. I don't think I am a moron just becasue
I believe rules should be enforced fairly. I assume in your world if a
person parked a 15 Year old Olds Cutlass in the no parking zone, it would be
OK to tow it, while we can't touch the Ferrari. In reality it is possible
that the 15 year old Cutlass was owned by a frugal multi-millionaire and the
Ferrari by a debt riden poser.

I suppose we do live in a world where arrogance and the appearance of wealth
rule. But it is people like you, who cuddle rich jerks, that have made it
so. Enjoy. Persoanlly I have no problem providing extra services to people
who pay for them, I just don't think rich people (are people who are faking
it) can violate rules becasue they are rich.

I am not particularly liberal or conservative. I do dislike people who
decide that rules are only for the "little people."

In my world, if the rich guy wanted a special parking space near the door
for his Ferrari, we would create one for him (and charge appropriately). And
when some other rich jerk parked in the "special reserved spot" it would be
towed.

Ed,
Im probably the moron for coming out like such a jerk. Apologies on my
outburst. I wouldnt tow the cutlass either if I knew who it belonged
to. I think that some people deserve some respect for where they manage
to get in life and it seems like everyone has some hate for the
sucessful guy or girl that makes it to the position in life where they
should be afforded some perks.
