Question on Sportster mirrors [message #477315] Thu, 13 October 2005 02:04
NewRider
I'm a new rider and just purchased an '06 1200cc Sportster Custom.

I'm 5;9 and about 210 and I'm having a big problem getting the stock
mirrors adjusted so I can see something behind me. I can only get one
mirror to see behind me at a time and most of both mirros see mostly
shoulders.

I've heard its kinda a common situation with Sportsters. Been looking at
the Harley catalog for alternatives. Not sure if what I'm seeing will work.

Been told that there is an extension available.

Anybody have any thoughts on alternatives? Do I need to go outside the
Harley brand to get something that would work for me? If so, anybody have
any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Gerry

I had a similiar problem when I had drag bars on my other Sporty. Here's a
link to the long stem Harley mirrors. Most dealers carry them in stock. Good
luck.

Hi

Maybe its the handlebars. The 06 Sportster apparently comes with long
stem mirrors stock..and the service manager mentioned that the
visibility problem is a common one with the new Sporters.

They have these custom teardrop shape ones at 200 bucks and I could
also get an extension for the stem but I was wondering if there were
other market alternatives.

Thanks
