New bike... to me anyway [message #471387] Sun, 09 October 2005 14:08
Don
Just wanted to poke my head in the group and say Hi.
Yesterday I picked up my first Harley in allot of years.
Just got an 02 Heritage Softail Classic. 5900 miles and lots of extras. I
have had three other Harleys but none in over 12 years and they were all
pretty used up when I got them:) My last bike is a Vulcan 1500 Classic.
Great bike, still runs great.. But after riding my brothers 05 I had the bug
again! The newer ones are so smooth and shift better than I would have
believed.
The bike runs great! I had a stupid grin all day!

Welcome Don. I picked up an 03 Ultra with 8500 miles on it a few months
back. I keep it on the carport (chained up of course, been quite a few
bikes here in the neighborhood stolen over the last few years). I still get
that same grin every time I go out to sit at the table on the carport to
relax. Just sit there, starin at the bike, with a far away look on my
face...

Sure, you have superior motorcycling handling skills. The goal is to keep
out of those situations that require you to display them.

Thanks for the welcome gang! I put some risers on the bike as the former
owner had Fatboy bars installed. I like the width but they were just too
low. Much better now. Dam, I can't stop grinning:)
