Hi i have a problem with my cbr that the battery is not receiving enough
charge when the headlight is on. hte bike is fine during the day but a few
trips at night and the battery is flat. The headlight also dimms about 30
seconds after starting the bike whatever the condition of the battery. I
have been lead to beleive that it is the alternator or the rectifier. Does
anyone know what i have to check on these items or any other ideas what the
problem may be. I have basic electrical knowledge and own a multimeter so
any help would be appreciated.

There is nothing unique about your frequently asked question, Dave.
Try googling the archive of this group and you'll find a few hundred
thousand words on the subject. Read the responses and implement the
solutions.
Step back, the pod doors are closing now. Have a nice day.

Pick up and turn on multimeter
Set to D.C. volts
Attach to battery
Note voltage (should be better than 12)
Start engine
Note voltage (should be 13 or better)
Rev engine
Note voltage (should be 13.5 or so)
Turn on headlight
Note voltage (should remain at 13 or better)
