Unload bike at rogers camp, warm bike up, whellie down road ( yes, 47yrs
old and stupid!) flip bike, tear knee up, surgery, tear little finger

How bad was the injuries, I mean, you did not had to go through ACL or
MCL repair, did you? Hope not...

1 separated tendon, put back together, 1 with a hole in it, will heal,
and a little plastic surgery, thats the hand. The knee, got off lucky,
no tendon damage, but a little plastic surgery, might be in order. The
skin tore 7" across the knee cap and was separated 5". Hope to have a
nice pic on abpm tonight! Did I say that I left my knee guards, in the
pickup! Duh!

Reminds me of my greatly-abridged Snowboard season about 7-8 years ago.
First trip of the season (New Year's day) - drive 3 hours to
Killington, take Gondola to top, ride 25 yards, catch edge and biff -
tear up everything in my shoulder...surgery, rehab, bla bla bla. The
best part was looking up from the ground at the Gondola unloading
platform - I knew immediately that my season was over, and I couldn't
believe that I didn't even make it out of sight of the unloading
station. Hells bells.

Good to get the boot off before the pain really sets in anyway.

I hope that your son missed the open wound. I'm sure that he'll
be in therapy for the rest of his life because of what you put
him thru:-)

Last week I brushed some plywood in my garage & put a big
splinter in my elbow. It required two hands to properly remove,
so I gave my daughter a pair of needle nose pliers & had her
yank it out. She was totally put off by the whole thing. Kids
these days...

Actually it's a very long and funny story, but it was his idea to take
the picture with his camera phone, after some major objections from the
er nurse, she let him do it, then said, their something wrong with you

That's what my daughter would've done.

This is the same daughter who last week wanted me to go out and get
chinese takeout for dinner. I refused, so she proceeded to spend the
next hour rapping me in the knuckles with a drumstick until I couldn't
take it anymore and finally caved in.

Gawd dang! I just looked at the photo for the first time... ICK!

That looks painful as hell! Was this on a dirt road? I mean,
Roger's Camp is not on an asphalt road, right? How fast were you
going, what gear were you in?

Last time I flipped was at Red River, in second gear, maybe 20-25
mph, right in front of everybody, but in the sand :-) Didn't hurt me
at all, and didn't appear to hurt the bike initially. Though later my
Raptor clutch lever broke and I suspect it was originally damaged in
the flip. And of course I was wearing full gear ;-p

Was your bike damaged?

Get well soon, Joe!

This is a guess 20 to 30 mph, on a gravel road, 50yds outside of the
staging area, 2nd gear, I just finished a nice wheelie, came down,
goosed in the gravel and I think My rear tire caught a nice fixed rock
imbedded in the road ( I could see it in my peel out path) bike went
straight up and I wiskey throttled it as I was falling off. The bike had
a bent clutch lever, because it landed right on top of me, not a
scratch, just a bent lever. I left my knee guards in the back of the p/u
because "they arn't comfy" Lesson well learned. As I have learned, in
the last week, knee's are kinda neat to have! I had full riding gear
other than that!
