So, I just fucking googled it, and came back with so much crap its
unbelievable.
Does anyone have an opinion on :
1) Unbranded Inkjet Cartridges vs. OE Cartridges.
and
2) A reliable online retailer for either of them.

Quality varies hugely from one unbranded type to another. I once bought
some "no-name" types from an online supplier and the colours were waaay
off.
Another time, I bought some and the ink *stank*. I don't just mean it
was poor quality but it /really/ whiffed.
:-)
Lastly, not all no-brand inks have the UV resistance that most of the
factory ones do. Not good if you intend to do photo prints for display.
I gave up for the few quid it saved compared to buying PC-World's own-
brand carts which seem to be quite good although not /quite/ as long-
lasting.

I use 7dayshop.com for cheapies. They were doing Epson ones at 99p a
little while ago, so I can put up with the anomalies for that.
You won't beat genuine cartridges for outright print quality though.
When I need to do serious printing I always buy genuine for my Epson.
They also don't seem to clog as much either.

But, especially for HP printers, OEM is the way to go.
unbranded = refilled = shorter life, and, IME, 1 in 4 simply don't
work, so it is a false economy.

They're not doing ones for the Pixma iP4200 yet though, the swines.
The cheapest I've found so far for genuine ones is PC World's web site,=20
where you "buy" at the on-line price, then select "pickup from store"=20
and pop round the corner and collect it. There are some places doing=20
them slightly cheaper, but you always end up paying =A32-3 p&p. This way=20
you get a lower price than in-store, but you pick it up ... er ... in=20
store :)

Tanx for the advice all.
Well, I'll plump for the cheapest refurb ones I can find on suggested
websites, if they're crap, them OEM ones will be ordered and I'll put it
down to experience.

Another happy customer here. 3 different Epson printers in the past 6 years
and not a single problem with Choice Stationery.

Tho perhaps you should consider a different printer supplier.

I asked this of a company selling Jet-Tec inks and they sent me a pdf
of a magazine test in something called Total Gear(don't know if that's
teh mag name or section name) where they came out on top[1]. It
compares 7 inks from 4 manufacturers - Jet tec having three entires.
Oh yes - the point! If you want it I can email it. Unfortunately I
don't have any webspace available to use. It's a pdf of ~800kb in
size.
[1] No surprise really - they're hardly going to send me an article
proving they are shit.[2]
[2] I did wonder whether it was an elaborate piece of marketing
material to be honest, I didn't end up buying their stuff anyway.
